Listening to the Holy Spirit
OPENING PRAYER:
Holy Spirit, we invite You to speak to us today. Open our ears to hear Your voice and our hearts to respond in obedience. Guide us into deeper understanding and intimacy with You. Amen.
"But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come."
John 16:13 (NIV)
REFLECT:
Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit would guide us into all truth. This guidance is not just about knowledge but about living in alignment with God's will. The message highlighted the importance of saying no to ourselves so we can say yes to the Spirit. This requires discernment and a willingness to listen.
Listening to the Holy Spirit is a skill that develops over time. It involves quieting our own desires and tuning into the Spirit's leading. This can be challenging in a world full of noise and distractions, but it is essential for spiritual growth. The Spirit's voice often comes as a gentle whisper, a nudge in the right direction, or a conviction in our hearts.
Reflect on how you can create space in your life to hear the Spirit's voice. This might involve setting aside time for prayer and meditation, reading Scripture, or simply being still in God's presence. As you practice listening, trust that the Spirit will guide you into truth and empower you to live it out.
I WILL STATEMENT:
I will say “no” to myself so I can say “yes” to God's Holy Spirit.
CLOSING PRAYER:
Spirit of Truth, thank You for guiding us into all truth. Help us to listen attentively and respond faithfully to Your leading. May our lives reflect Your wisdom and grace. Amen.
