A Life of Sacrifice

OPENING PRAYER:

Jesus, as we reflect on Your ultimate sacrifice, teach us what it means to live sacrificially for others. May our lives be a reflection of Your love and grace. Amen.

READ: Philippians 2:5-8 (NIV)

"In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross!"

Paul calls believers to emulate Christ's humility and sacrificial love. Jesus' willingness to lay down His life is the ultimate example of doing "whatever it takes" for the sake of others.

REFLECT:

Pastor Elliott concludes his message with a powerful reminder of Jesus' sacrifice, the ultimate example of doing "whatever it takes." Jesus' life and death exemplify selflessness and love, challenging us to consider how we can live sacrificially for others. Philippians 2:5-8 calls us to adopt the mindset of Christ, who humbled Himself and became obedient to death on a cross.

Living a life of sacrifice means putting others' needs before our own and being willing to give up our comfort for the sake of the gospel. This can take many forms, from serving in our local communities to supporting global missions. The India Gospel League's commitment to planting churches in every village is a modern-day example of sacrificial living, as they give their time, resources, and lives to spread the gospel.

As we reflect on Jesus' sacrifice, we are reminded that true fulfillment comes from living for something greater than ourselves. Rodney’s message challenges us to examine our priorities and consider how we can align our lives with God's mission. By following Jesus' example, we can make a lasting impact on the world around us. Is there one area of your life where you can practice sacrificial love this week? Maybe it could be through volunteering, giving financially, or offering your time and support to someone in need.

I WILL STATEMENT:

I will do whatever it takes to proclaim the message of Jesus this week.

CLOSING PRAYER:

Lord Jesus, thank You for Your incredible sacrifice and the example You set for us. Help us to live lives of sacrificial love, putting others before ourselves and seeking to further Your kingdom. May our actions reflect Your grace and draw others to You. Amen.
