The Spirit of Adoption

OPENING PRAYER:

Holy Spirit, as we study Your Word today, open our hearts to understand the depth of our adoption into God's family. May we live in the freedom and joy that comes from being Your children. Amen.

READ: Galatians 4:6-7

"Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, 'Abba, Father.' So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir."

REFLECT:

The Spirit of adoption is a transformative gift that changes our status from slaves to children of God. In the message, we learned that this adoption is not just a change in legal standing but a change in relationship. We are invited to call God "Abba, Father," a term that signifies intimacy and trust.

This relationship is marked by freedom and security. We are no longer bound by fear or the need to earn God's love. Instead, we are free to live as His beloved children, confident in His provision and care. The story of the pastor's friend who lost his job but found peace in God's provision illustrates how this freedom can manifest in our lives.

As you reflect on this truth, consider how it changes your approach to God. Are there areas where you still feel like a slave, trying to earn His love or approval? Embrace the freedom that comes from being His child and let it transform your relationship with Him.

I WILL STATEMENT:

I will run to the Father in prayer with the difficulties and the brokenness of my life.

CLOSING PRAYER:

Abba, Father, thank You for adopting me into Your family and giving me the Spirit of sonship. Help me to live in the freedom and joy of being Your child, trusting in Your love and provision. Amen.
