The Presence of Jesus in Our Grief
OPENING PRAYER:
Lord, as we explore Your presence in our grief, open our hearts to the comfort and peace that comes from knowing You are with us. Help us to feel Your nearness today. Amen.
The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.
This verse assures us that the Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. It is a promise of God's presence and comfort in times of sorrow.
Psalm 34:18
REFLECT:
Pastor Elliott’s message reminds us that Jesus is with us in our grief, offering comfort and hope. Psalm 34:18 beautifully captures this truth, assuring us that God is near to those who are brokenhearted. This promise is a source of immense comfort, reminding us that we are never alone in our pain.
The presence of Jesus in our grief is transformative. It means that our sorrow is not wasted or meaningless. Instead, it becomes an opportunity for deeper intimacy with God. In our brokenness, we can experience His healing and peace. This presence does not necessarily remove our pain, but it gives us the strength to endure and the hope to persevere.
For us, this means that we can invite Jesus into our grief, trusting that He will meet us there. We can be honest about our struggles and open to His comfort. As we do so, we may find that our grief becomes a pathway to greater faith and reliance on God. His presence is a balm for our wounded hearts, offering solace and strength.
I WILL STATEMENT:
I will give hope to someone who is grieving.
CLOSING PRAYER:
Loving Father, thank You for being close to the brokenhearted. Help me to feel Your presence in my grief and to trust in Your comfort. May Your peace fill my heart and guide me through my sorrow. Amen.
