Faith That Moves
OPENING PRAYER:
Lord, as we come before You today, fill our hearts with faith that moves us to action. May we be inspired by Your Word and empowered by Your Spirit to make a difference in the lives of others. Amen.
"Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see."
Hebrews 11:1 (NLT)
REFLECT:
Hebrews 11:1 defines faith as confidence and assurance in what we hope for, even when we cannot see it. Todd’s message illustrated this kind of faith through the actions of the four friends who brought the paralyzed man to Jesus. Their faith was not passive; it was active and determined, driven by a deep belief in Jesus' power to heal.
Theologically, this passage challenges us to consider the nature of our faith. Is it merely intellectual assent, or does it compel us to act? The friends' faith was demonstrated through their willingness to overcome obstacles and take risks for the sake of their friend. This kind of faith is what God calls us to—a faith that moves us to action, even when the path is uncertain.
In our own lives, we are often faced with situations that require us to step out in faith. Whether it's addressing the foster care crisis or supporting a friend in need, we are called to trust in God's power and provision, even when we cannot see the outcome. This kind of faith requires courage and a willingness to embrace the messiness of life, trusting that God is at work in and through us.
Reflecting on this, we must ask ourselves how we can cultivate a faith that moves us to action. It may involve stepping out of our comfort zones, taking risks, and trusting God to guide us. As we do so, we become instruments of His love and grace in the world, bringing hope and healing to those in need.
I WILL STATEMENT:
I will pick one way to be a part of God's solution to the foster care crisis in our community.
Pastor Hutchison offered everyone the opportunity to come to a meeting or a training on October 13 at 6pm to learn more about how you can get involved to make a difference. Find out more by going to pathwaychurch.com/fostercare
